    Editing tool Descript has purchased Squadcast, a remote recording service. Terms weren't given. The announcement says that the two services will continue separately for now, but Descript customers will get remote recording included immediately in their subscriptions for free; and SquadCast customers can choose to switch their subscription to Descript to get its editing capabilities at no additional cost.

    In Dec 2021, Adobe revealed Project Shasta, which we noticed in Oct 2022 had rebranded to Adobe Express Podcast. It's now branded Adobe Podcast beta, and offers a mix of Descript-like "Edit words, not waveforms", SquadCast-like "Remote recording", and Auphonic-like "AI-powered audio" - and there's a waitlist on the website.     Exclusive: One of the biggest podcasts in the world will be making it to Radiodays Asia in Kuala Lumpur in early September. Presenter Jackie Leonard, and Karen Martin, the Editor of the Global News Podcast from the BBC World Service, will be speaking in a two-day conference which will also include podcasters from across the world. The Global News Podcast was quoted as achieving 12m downloads a month in 2019. SquadCast's Arielle Nissenblatt and Podnews's James Cridland will also be speaking. You can buy tickets here.

    SquadCast is getting a new logo as part of their v5 redesign, according to Zach Moreno, speaking on company's podcast. It'll look better on smaller screens, and be in a new typeface, we're told; the wider software redesign is the biggest update yet.

    First look: We're told that Squadcast is to launch an update today that adds "full-featured, stable support" for Safari on Mac OS, and also adds beta support on iPhone and iPad 15.2+. Squadcast officially supports Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Opera, Brave, and Silk web browsers on MacOS, Windows, Android, and Linux operating systems since 2019: wider support, we think, than any other cloud recording audio/video service.

    Remote recording tool SquadCast has a new pricing plan from December 16th. For new users, the "Unlimited" $20/month plan will no longer be available; the "Creator" $20/month plan replaces it, with a max of 5 hours recording. Current "Unlimited" users will still get unlimited use.
