  • iHeartRadio is still the #1 podcaster, according to Podtrac’s January data: the company leads NPR for both US unique monthly audience and global streams/downloads. Here’s what else you need to-know-tdy: The Daily remains the US’s most popular podcast. An incomplete ranker, it measures participating publishers only.

  • Acast has quietly released a new logo. See it below: they’re a gold supporter (or see our full list of podcast hosts).

  • Top-five podcast app PodcastAddict is rolling out full support of the new RSS 'person’ tag. (We like their screenshot!)

  • The Infinite Dial 2021, Edison Research’s data about media consumption, is now accepting registrations for their webinar. It’s the most-quoted data for podcast consumption in the US.

  • SiriusXM has published their annual report. Their Pandora business (which includes AdsWizz, Stitcher and Simplecast) saw a 1% drop in ad revenue in 2020, and a drop of 2% for subscriber revenue.

  • Radiodays Asia has published their programme for their virtual conference in March. There are a number of podcasting sessions, including a panel session from Australia and speakers from across South East Asia, as well as our Editor.

  • Law&Crime Network, which runs a TV channel, is to launch a podcast network. True crime, naturally.

  • A new show, Words That Build, describes itself as having an 'innovative format’ - it’ll take voicemails from real estate professionals, and also says it “transmutes written articles from top publications to audio”.

  • A book-reading podcast, The StoryLight Podcast, will be doing a live show on Discord this Saturday, February 6th.

  • The Verge writes about Elon Musk’s use of Clubhouse; meanwhile Matt Deegan says that Clubhouse isn’t about audio. “At its worst, I’d say the content is basically the annoying self-promoters from LinkedIn given a microphone to talk to their echo-chamber,” he says, before saying it’s a good place for like-minded people to chat.
