The host of Sword and Scale, Mike Boudet has posted a racially unpleasant poll on Twitter. Boudet was sacked by Wondery in 2019 after similar Twitter comments, and was widely accused of orchestrating one-star reviews against a competitor. He has denied that he left one star reviews; and is also the subject of a YouTube documentary. We've again asked for comment.

Spotify is now producing the audio section of US airline Delta's in-flight seatback entertainment. The service contains mixtapes of music, and 42 podcast series including Gimlet's Science Vs, The Ringer's The Dave Chang Show and WSJ/Gimlet's The Journal, as well as Crime Junkie (which isn't a Spotify show). Spotify's original deal with Delta was announced two years ago: at that time it was podcast-only, and Delta was seeing around 16.5m passengers every month; JetBlue also signed with Spotify in November 2019. Podcasts are also on other airlines.

In the US, iHeartMedia has launched its own Private Marketplace, allowing advertisers to buy shows across the iHeartPodcast Network. Using Voxnest, it allows geo-targeting and "psychographic" targeting (only want "intrepid" listeners? Or "conquerors"?) We wonder if it can also target people who've had their first COVID-19 vaccination and are feeling a bit sleept.

Bye, Himalaya: the company is "transitioning away from podcasts towards audio courses". The company launched a $100m podcast platform in 2019, in a statement since claimed to be "partially false".
