- Feb 20: With all the excitement about video podcasting this week, you'd be forgiven for thinking that podcast consumption is now video-first. New US data released today by Triton Digital says that it isn't: only 7% of people exclusively watch podcasts; 80% of podcast listeners both watch and listen. The data is part of Triton Digital's 2025 Podcast Report, which is a free (with registration) download. Triton Digital's Omny Studio was a launch partner of Apple Podcasts new video service) earlier this week.
- Feb 5: Triton Digital has launched its Podcast Metrics Industry Feature Set. The analytics tools allow publishers access to benchmarks, market share information and audience composition insights, across twenty podcast markets worldwide.
- Jan 29: Spotify breaking open RSS in this way also extends to some podcast rankers like the Triton Digital ranker, which is based on logfile analysis. This led to Australian publisher Shameless Media coming out of the Australian ranker, as we reported last week. Analytics tools like OP3, which is based on server redirects, also cannot measure any plays on Spotify if that episode opted into video. It also means that you can't serve dynamic ads on these shows as well, which means you may significantly lower your revenue. A Sounds Profitable piece from April 2025 highlights the issues - and bluntly tells the podcast industry not to take part.
