- Jan 29: Spotify breaking open RSS in this way also extends to some podcast rankers like the Triton Digital ranker, which is based on logfile analysis. This led to Australian publisher Shameless Media coming out of the Australian ranker, as we reported last week. Analytics tools like OP3, which is based on server redirects, also cannot measure any plays on Spotify if that episode opted into video. It also means that you can't serve dynamic ads on these shows as well, which means you may significantly lower your revenue. A Sounds Profitable piece from April 2025 highlights the issues - and bluntly tells the podcast industry not to take part.
- Jan 22: Triton Digital announced the release of its US Podcast Ranker for December 2025. At the time of writing, however, the ranker isn't yet available online.
- Jan 21: The ranker, calculated by Triton Digital, is administered by CRA. They gave Podnews a long statement, suggesting that "individual participation shifts don't change the fundamental value" of the ranker, and highlighting that they are "constantly ... reviewing video podcast measurement for inclusion when we find tested, validated and best practice approaches. Video is new and moving fast, requiring measurement to be rigorous and accurate."

- Dec 19, 2025: Triton Digital released rankers for the US and for Canada. The US shows the iHeart Audience Network as #1; CBC/Radio-Canada gets #1 slot in Canada.
