The Hidden Podcast Network Most Creators Don't Know ExistsPaid content
Podseo, the SEO platform that shows podcasters which shows link to theirs in Apple’s “Listeners Also Liked” section, analyzed 263,859 active English podcasts using this unique dataset to reveal how recommendation algorithms actually work.
The encouraging finding: 56% of active podcasts don’t appear in any recommendations yet—you’re not behind. Apple’s 15-recommendation limit creates natural asymmetry: popular shows like “The Diary of a CEO” receive 4,000+ recommendations but can only recommend 15 back.
Using Podseo’s recommendation tracking data, we identified 149 distinct audience communities and discovered 35,218 podcast pairs that recommend each other—golden signals for collaboration. Podcasts in the same cluster share significant audience overlap, making guest swaps and feed drops substantially more effective than random outreach.
Podseo’s “referral podcasts” feature tracks your position in this hidden network in real-time, showing which podcasts recommend yours and helping identify collaboration opportunities that actually convert.
