
Spotify ensures podlink’s future

In a welcome move, Spotify has returned podcast linking tool pod
.link to its original developer, Nathan Gathright. Podlink, which offers one simple link to a podcast on all platforms, launched in Aug 2018, and was purchased by Podsights in Feb 2021, which in turn was acquired by Spotify in Feb 2022. Gathright left Spotify in 2023. The move will make sure that over 1.7 million links to Podlink on the web will keep working. - Spotify tells us: “Spotify is committed to building great products that help creators succeed. As we continue investing in native solutions that help creators and publishers track and promote their podcast episodes more effectively, we’ve decided to return Pod
.link to its founder. We’re collaborating closely to ensure a smooth handoff, with minimal impact to users throughout the transition”. - Here are other universal links tools, including Podfollow, Linkfire, and episodes

True Native Media has announced two ways for podcast publishers to earn money. PodRamp is for emerging podcasts, helping smaller shows with programmatic ad management and hosting; PodPremium, the company’s established offering, is for larger shows, with strategic representation and premium host-read ad campaigns.

In the UK, AudioUK has launched a campaign for formal recognition of podcasting and audio as a core UK creative industry. It follows similar action in Canada and France. Recognition could mean tax relief and a place in policy-making committees. The release includes action that UK-based audio companies or individuals can take.

Audioboom released its Q2/2025 trading update. The company made 5% more revenue year-on-year, but five times the profit: $1.2mn. Total consumption (in downloads/views) was up 5%.
