• The recent announcement that Spotify is supplying podcasts to Delta Airlines isn’t the first time podcasts have been seen on planes: in fact, as we show above, a limited (and usually out-dated) selection is available on most plane entertainment systems. • ML Elrick’s ML Soul of Detroit, a podcast in the city, has been yanked by his employer, TV channel WJBK Fox 2. The abrupt “pause” for the podcast happened after an episode was critical about DTE Energy, who advertises heavily on the Fox-owned station.

• The BBC has announced that a second season of Have You Heard George’s Podcast? from George the Poet will be on BBC Sounds this quarter. At this year’s British Podcast Awards it won four gold awards, two silver and Podcast of the Year.

• A free ebook has been published, Tools for Podcasting. Written by Jill Olmsted, a full-time professor of Journalism at the American University School of Communication in Washington DC, the book “will help you navigate the technology and best practices of this popular medium”. • The CBC have launched Podcasts In Class, custom-made lesson plans, slides, handouts, homework and even videos, featuring the hosts of CBC Podcasts. The teaching materials are available for free to teachers in Canada and across the world.

• More Banana, who we reported last month was crowdfunding, has successfully hit its funding goal. It creates “edgy, fun comedy podcasts entirely hosted and produced by women and non-binary creators”.

• Meanwhile, in Columbia, there is an “obvious preference of listeners for podcasts hosted by men”, according to a piece focusing on the gender makeup of podcasting in the country by Sebastián Payán R.

• Coleman Insights plans a free webinar next week: Outside Thinking for Podcasts, focusing on developing a top-of-mind podcast brand. It’s at Thu 12 Sep, 2pm Eastern Time.

• A free event in London about how to pitch podcasts and radio will be on 18th September.

Hosts Eric, Keenan, and DJ Boogie give their Ignorant Philosophy on pop culture, relationships and social issues each week. They’re using Spreaker Prime to host for free and make more money.
