Podcast Movement starts today, after a busy day of pre-meetings yesterday. The largest podcast gathering in the world is in Orlando FL, USA between now and the end of Friday. The main stage will be streaming live throughout. We’re there too!

The International Podcast Association held its first board meeting at Podcast Movement last night. It’s a brand new group that seeks to bring together the podcast community and to support and accelerate the growth and success of every individual and organisation within podcasting. The group’s website contains a survey to help set the group’s priorities.

Spotify has brought their platform, called Spotify for Podcasters, out of beta. The enhanced podcaster portal offers a new blog, support for teams, and most interestingly - a way to discover “the top music artists that their podcast listeners play on Spotify”. Podnews listeners like Taylor Swift at #1, and Elton John at #2. Disappointing.

HiStudios is a new podcasting content venture from Himalaya. Launched in March, the company is opening studios in Los Angeles CA, USA next month. Partners of HiStudios also receive follower bonuses for every person who follows their podcast on the Himalaya app.

Group Nine Media, owner of brands including NowThis and Thrillist, have signed with iHeartMedia to bring an exclusive portfolio-wide podcast slate to the iHeartPodcast Network.

Spreaker has launched a content development program for podcasters. Called BLOOM, the first podcast partner is Flatrock, a true crime podcast; five podcast launches are expected by the end of this year.

Simplecast has added analytics for their popular web-based player.

RadioPublic have added “tipping on the web”, a new tool for users of their Podsite podcast website product. RadioPublic don’t take a cut of your donations.

More Banana Podcasts is a network of women-led producers, making edgy, fun comedy shows. Expanding to ten shows in the past year, they’re crowdfunding to help them continue to expand.
