After Podtrac told us that purchased podcast plays in game apps were “consistent with IAB guidelines”, the IAB’s Eric John has told Bloomberg that “the standards are in a continual state of review”. The practice has been widely criticised elsewhere.

The feed to Kara Swisher’s former podcast Sway has been repurposed by the New York Times to now be used by tech show Hard Fork. Swisher is annoyed, Walt Mossberg is upset, as are others.

The BBC World Service has announced more than 380 potential job cuts. The broadcaster produces many popular podcasts, including the BBC Global News Podcast. The station will focus more on live news and sports; and less on standalone programmes, which are typically also produced as podcasts.

In Delhi, India, HT Smartcast says it has achieved more than a hundred million podcast listens over the past year from more than two hundred original podcast shows.

Twitter is rolling out their podcast interface for Twitter Blue users on Android now; a few weeks after iOS users got it. Twitter Blue is the premium, US$4.99/month, membership program.

Haymarket is to launch PodPod, a “new editorial brand about the craft and business of podcasting”. It promises a daily newsletter, and will be edited by Adam Shepherd, a UK journalist who joins from Dennis Publishing’s IT Pro.
