  • Todd Cochrane’s Geek News Central will today release its 1,500th episode in a live recording from 7.30pm ET via Facebook. Todd is also CEO of Blubrry, and tells Podnews of the benefit of using your own product: “While I love doing my show for my family of listeners, I strongly believe the only way to stay abreast of what is happening, and the struggles podcasters face in building a show and keeping advertisers happy, is by being in the trenches creating content.” Congratulations to him.

  • The most popular podcast in France, Choses à Savoir, now has a US edition. You’ll Die Smarter hopes to emulate the success of its French parent, which was voted Podcast of the Year on both Spotify and Deezer in France.

  • Gaming headset company Turtle Beach has acquired Neat Microphones, a company making weird-looking podcaster microphones.

  • Houston’s NPR radio station, KUHF, has dropped their broadcast of a radio version of The Daily. “Reports that The Daily host, Michael Barbaro, did not appropriately disclose material facts about his connection to the controversial Caliphate series during a recent broadcast are not consistent with Houston Public Media’s commitment to transparency and journalistic standards.” We noted last month that his coverage was also against the New York Times’s own Editorial Standards.
