  • News provider Reuters has unveiled two new audio services: Reuters Audio, a rights-cleared real-time and archive audio clips service with almost half a million audio clips now available for use in podcasts; and Reuters Ready Audio, a curated package of news stories voiced by Reuters journalists. Both are available by subscription at Reuters Connect - and individual clips may be available for purchase later, the company tells Podnews. You can hear some examples of the audio clips in our podcast today.

  • The Reuters Institute and the University of Oxford have released their Digital News Report. It says that 31% access a podcast monthly (across twenty countries), up from 29% a year ago. The research also shows that Spotify is more popular (by total audience) than Apple Podcasts in many countries, including the US, Australia, and not entirely unsurprisingly, Sweden - Spotify’s home country.

  • iTunes U, the educational service from Apple, is to close by the end of the year. Content producers are being recommended to use Apple Podcasts, where appropriate.

Google Podcasts’ “subscribe” links occasionally change, if the system finds a better RSS feed to use - and that can break your existing links. The Urbanista 2.0 podcast’s website, over here - a mental health podcast in Portuguese, focusing on a more meaningful life - has a brilliantly clever and simple idea for linking to Google Podcasts… link to a search instead. Allow us to steal that (we messed something up with our feed the other day, so our normal link doesn’t currently work).
