After nearly ten days without any categories in Apple Podcasts, the new categories are now live in the company’s apps. Our own podcast’s listing is correctly in the new Daily News category, in the iOS and new macOS versions of the Apple Podcasts app.

- Apple Podcasts on the web has upgraded their audio player. It now offers skip forward and backward.

She Podcasts LIVE has unveiled highlighted speakers and details for the event, in Atlanta GA, USA, in early October, including the chance to pitch a show to PRX and two podcast ad agencies.

In the UK, podcast listening is almost as popular as listening to “digital music tracks”, and for young people podcasting’s already beaten music, according to Music:Ally. “Digital Music Tracks” in this context is your own MP3s; music services like Spotify remain rather more popular, though.

Secrets is the theme of the latest podcast listening list from Podcast Brunch Club, which is like book club but for podcasts. The playlist includes four episodes from TED Radio Hour, Family Secrets, The Tip Off, and Showcase from Radiotopia. You can join in on the discussion by joining one of PBC’s 60+ in-person chapters around the world or by participating in their virtual chapter.

Social podcast app Breaker is beta-testing on Android. AndroidPolice get a sneak preview. (Thought: with Swoot, Breaker, and at least one other 'social’ podcast app we’re aware of in the works, any chance of a shared social graph between them?)

Scout FM has added support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The app is a “podcast radio” service with curated playlists.

LA-based business content publisher Podco Media Networks has launched a podcast content network, and acquired two existing podcasts, Confessions of a Marketer and The Innovation Podcast.

Independent podcast network Relay FM is five years old, and they’re celebrating with some nice t-shirts.

Royalty news: The Queens’ grand-daughter, Princess Eugenie, is to launch a podcast highlighting modern slavery; in musical royalty, Dolly Parton is doing a podcast with Radiolab’s Jad Abumrad; and in podcast royalty, Adam Curry is seemingly launching a brand new podcast, posting a pilot episode to Twitter.
