
iVoox releases Spanish podcast data

The number of podcasts in Spanish grew 6.8 times last year, according to iVoox. 55% of Spanish podcast listeners are listening more now than before the pandemic, says a new study. We’ve linked to it in full from the press release; above is data showing the growth of other languages.

Spanish listeners will also have another big show to enjoy: Canción Exploder will be a Spanish-language version of Song Exploder. It’s to launch in early 2022 on Radiotopia from PRX, produced by Adonde Media.

Podcast publisher Auddy thinks there’s more to podcasting than just America. Andrew Craissati, CEO and co-founder of Auddy is a guest on Podland today, and says “Our focus is the world excluding the US. We think that the rest of the world is an incredibly exciting market. We’re a very internationally-minded company. The British seem to excel as being an exporter of the creative industries.” It’s hosted by Sam Sethi and Podnews’s Editor, James Cridland.

The Chinese podcast platform Ximalaya has cancelled plans for a US stock exchange listing, and now plans to file for an IPO in Hong Kong after apparent pressure from the Chinese government. It has a market share of 75% of all audio consumption on mobile platforms in the country.

SXM Media is unveiling new programmatic capabilities for podcast advertising at the IAB Podcast Upfronts, producing a single access point for all SXM Media’s inventory.

Alternative music network idobi has signed an exclusive agreement with AdsWizz for global monetisation of its audio inventory. It’s an expanded agreement between the two companies.

Transistor has given any customer access to their private podcast feature. The company is beta-testing dynamic pre-rolls, and says it has 16,227 podcasts using their service. (Listen Notes suggests 11,529 are in Apple Podcasts).
