A big network moves distribution to Flightcast

• In Australia, LiSTNR has partnered with Flightcast to power its podcasting distribution, including video. More than 150 shows will move onto Flightcast, which was launched by Steven Bartlett and Rox Codes in Oct 2025 - it’s the company’s biggest customer yet. LiSTNR is run by Australia’s largest commercial radio company SCA: they currently use Triton’s Omny Studio for podcast hosting.

• Triton Digital and radio playout provider RCS have announced programmatic audio advertising for broadcast radio: allowing broadcasters to monetise traditional radio advertising with the same automatic, data-driven workflows used in podcasting. The companies are both owned by iHeartMedia, which operates more than 860 radio stations across the US.

• Audio internet advertising in Australia grew by 6.6% in FY26, according to new data from IAB Australia. The market grew to AUD $353mn - (US $252mn). Podcast advertising was AUD $40mn (US $29mn) for the quarter ending June 2026, up 13% year-on-year.

• In a paid post, Eric Nuzum suggests that “Podcasting’s “Pivot to Video” Will End Up In a Charred Mess of Garbage-fire Wreckage …Just Like Every Other Media “Pivot to Video”… But That Doesn’t Mean You Shouldn’t Take Video Seriously.” In the article, he suggests that people are misunderstanding the role video can play, and are making “dumb decisions”; reminds us that 90% of all podcast consumption is to audio, not video; and says that video has three jobs: discovery, expansion and monetisation.

• Podscribe has added modeled attribution for YouTube shows without accompanying RSS feeds. The service blends observed attribution from an audio campaign with video consumption data.

• Acast has signed The Solo Bureau, a news podcast from former Mamamia editor and podcast host Claire Murphy.

• Browser-based recording and editing tool Podsplice has put an MCP server in front of its editor, so ChatGPT/Claude/Codex can drive editing decisions directly.
• Audio Hijack v4.6 is out, with support for the upcoming MacOS 27, and improvements to its transcribe feature.
• Attunex is a new iOS podcast player that lets you “follow people, not just shows”. The tool promises “interviews, not just passing mentions”, and you can read transcripts as well as listen. (One intriguing feature: “same-named strangers stay off - appearances are weighed against who the person is rather than just a matching name”. Dave Jones, rejoice!)
• A new remote recording tool called Lantern promises reliable recording - with live health checks as you record, and an open test suite. At about $8 a month, billed yearly, the website is very much laser-focused against customers of a particular recording tool. There’s a free trial.
• Recorded that interview on one track? Wish you could split it up so you’re on one track, and your interviewee is on the other? Speaker Splitter says it separates multi‑speaker recordings into individual speaker tracks, directly inside your DAW.
• A desktop app that subtitles and translates video, Overcaption is a free tool (with a few pro features). The transcription and translation happens on your machine, so you can use it as much as you’d like.
