BBC launches Podcasting House sampler feed to aid discovery

The BBC launches Podcasting House, a "a sampler feed that curates the best of our existing podcasts for audiences that may not know of them". The launch announcement also includes an announcement that at the broadcaster they "have commissioned a handful of new programmes that are intended to be podcasts first, and broadcasts second - if at all. They’re not designed to sit within a radio network, but are simply podcasts from the BBC." The name, of course, is a pun on the BBC's home, "Broadcasting House".
Player FM, a capable Android podcast app, moves to v4 with a redesign. The app is free, with a newly-announced monthly subscription fee. The app already claims over 100 paying users, and premium features include aggressive storage compression to fit more podcasts onto your phone. It's in Google Play now, and v4 is rolling out over the next few days.
Walmart's podcast, Outside The Box, gets a review from Fast Company, pointing out that "one thing you notice listening to it is that it’s never explicitly stated that it’s created by Walmart"
Radiotopia's Julie Shapiro writes for Current, arguing that podcasting should stay true to the public media system's goals.
