In an award ceremony live from Los Angeles, California, The Ambies were announced last night, the first podcast awards from The Podcast Academy. The podcast of the year went to Wondery’s Dying For Sex. The awards seemed to be a streaming success, too, with 25,000 people watching at peak. From the full list of winners, Amazon’s Wondery was the winning studio of the night, with five awards announced; Crooked Media getting four, and QCODE with three. The podcast with the biggest award haul was Wind of Change, with three separate wins.

- The upcoming version of Castamatic on iOS will support PodcastIndex search.
- PodcastIndex itself has 3.7m podcasts in it currently. The most host-submitted feeds are currently coming from Buzzsprout.
- The Apple Podcasts crawler is now grabbing our RSS feed 82 times in a day, according to our latest stats: every 17 minutes. This is quite an improvement from May 4, when it visited 10 times in the day (every 2 hours). As a reminder, the crawler now powers the Apple Podcasts app.
- Like Podnews, Overcast is also submitting new shows to Podcast Index, its developer Marco Arment has said.
