In der Cold Case True Crime-Serie „Licht ins Dunkel – Cold Cases und ungeklärte Vermisstenfälle" erzählt Autor Mike Mathis die Geschichte von Verbrechen, die nicht aufgeklärt werden können. Er spricht mit den Ermittlerinnen und Ermittlern über Mordfälle, die teilweise seit Jahrzehnten ungeklärt sind. Begleitet wird dieser Podcast von Expertinnen und Experten aus der Tatortarbeit, Spezialistinnen und Spezialisten von BKA, LKA und Polizei aus Aktenführung oder Expertinnen und Experten von Mordkommissionen.
Jedes Jahr werden bei der Polizei in Deutschland rund 100.000 Menschen als vermisst gemeldet. Drei Prozent von ihnen – also 3000 Menschen - bleiben länger als ein Jahr verschwunden. Einige werden nie wieder gesehen.
Heute sind spezielle Cold-Case-Einheiten im Einsatz, die die alten Verbrechen noch einmal aufrollen. Der Redakteur und Nachrichtensprecher Mike Mathis beleuchtet das plötzliche Verschwinden von Menschen, das der Familie, den Freunden und Verwandten auch viele Jahre danach noch ein Rätsel ist. Er möchte mit diesem Podcast dazu beitragen, dass diese Menschen und ihr Schicksal nicht in Vergessenheit geraten.
