- Oct 6: On a Bakerloo line tube train in London a few weeks ago, your Editor spotted this ad for Quite right!, a new podcast from The Spectator featuring Madeline Grant (assistant Editor) and Michael Gove (Editor) (also known as The Right Honourable The Lord Gove PC, and also Baron Gove of Torry in the City of Aberdeen). A surprising amount of the London Underground now has mobile data coverage, making this a good place to advertise; advertising in tube trains is sold by Global, which also owns ad exchange DAX, radio stations and podcast hosting company Captivate.
- Sep 22: NumberEight has partnered with DAX US to allow advertisers to target specific podcast episodes that connect with their core audience. The company has announced specific focused audience opportunities.
- Aug 22: Growth-oriented podcast host Captivate has announced a significant set of new product launches later this year. Products include a saleable feed drop platform; Captivate Ads, an ad marketplace that scales with your podcast (including access to the DAX marketplace); and Captivate Studio, its own remote recording tool, able to record up to seven participants which is integrated into Captivate’s existing guest booking and interview management toolset.
- Mar 28: Exclusive: Frequency Ads has launched a new Premium Publisher Network for host-read ads. Partnering with DAX US, the service aims to make host-read ads as easy to buy as programmatic ads.
- Jan 6: Global, the media and entertainment group based in the UK, published its full company accounts for year-ending Mar 31, 2024. The company is held privately, so this is dry reading really only meant for the tax authorities; but one thing we do learn is that (p43) the company’s North American operations, which mainly consists of audio ad sales company DAX, saw £44mn (US $55mn) in revenue (a figure that’s static year-on-year). The company also owns podcast hosting company Captivate, as well as many UK radio stations and UK outdoor advertising businesses.
