Global Player accelerates forward - now available in cars from all major automotive brands
Global, the Media & Entertainment group, has announced that its award-winning Global Player app is now available directly within car infotainment systems, giving drivers an effortless way to enjoy their favourite stations, podcasts and playlists on the road.
This builds on Global Player’s integration with BMW, the first car manufacturer to offer the app directly within BMW and MINI vehicles.
Available via both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Global Player lets users stream live radio from their favourite stations, catch-up on shows from the past seven days, rewind live radio as well as explore an extensive library of podcasts, and playlists.
Now, for the first time, Global Player is also available on Android Automotive, a built-in operating system that runs natively on a vehicle’s infotainment display without the need to connect a smartphone.
Drivers of compatible cars can discover the new Global Player Automotive app in their car’s own app store, including the BMW Connected Store and Google Play Store. The free app is available across a range of leading car brands, including BMW, MINI Volvo, Polestar, Renault and Nissan, with further launches planned.
Stephen Toombs, Head of In-Car Distribution for Global Player, Global said: “We know how important it is to our listeners to have easy access to their favourite radio brands and podcasts, so we’re thrilled to bring Global Player directly into cars and onto their dashboards. Working in partnership with leading automotive brands, this marks a major milestone in our mission to make listening to Global’s radio brands and podcasts effortless. Among other things, the in-car app functionality allows people to carry on exactly where they left off when they were listening elsewhere, without the need of a smartphone and dataplan.”
The Global Player app via Android Automotive gives drivers easy access to Heart, Capital, Smooth, Classic FM, LBC, Radio X and Gold Radio, plus thousands of podcasts and playlists, all controlled easily through the car’s touchscreen or voice assistant.
