Second virtual summit for podcasters announced

• AWeber has announced its second Beyond the Podcast Virtual Summit on September 18th. It’s free, and will include six podcasting experts including Captivate’s Mark Asquith, Dave Jackson and Harry Duran.

• Coleman Insights have revealed that the biggest show in podcasting is The Joe Rogan Experience, which was mentioned, unaided, by 14% of 1,000 (US) podcast listeners they asked. Serial was in second place, at 6%. “The leading brand is top-of-mind with only 14% of podcast listeners, and he started his show 10 years ago”, says CEO Warren Kurtzman.

• Stitcher have announced their Q3 2019 slate for Stitcher Originals and Earwolf. Expect new shows from Jameela Jamil, Aasif Mandvi, Joel Kim Oster and Mitra Jouhari; Verified investigates the potential dangers of the sharing economy; new seasons of The Dream, LeVar Burton Reads, Dead Ass with Khadeen & Devale, Science Rules! with Bill Nye, and more.

• RadioINK reports that Beasley Podcast Network, owned by a US radio network, has achieved “10m downloads in the quarter”, an increase of 15% from 2018. There are 40 shows in the network.

• US radio sales company Focus360 has invested in Lipstick & Vinyl, a podcast network that focuses on delivering underrepresented voices.

• Cumulus Media’s Westwood One Podcast Network has hired four new producers. Madena Parwana (ex Bloomberg) is Senior Producer, Core Content; Lou Pellegrino (Cadence13) is Senior Producer, Development; Rebekah Wineman (WSJ) is Audio Mixing Engineer/Studio Technician; and Sarah McCrory (Fox News Channel) is Associate Producer.
