Is better video podcasting coming to independent podcast apps? In a post on LinkedIn, The Podcast Standards Project says that it’s been discussing a better solution for supporting video using open RSS. The solution overcomes many of the issues highlighted by our Editor in a personal blog post last year; it might even allow dynamically-inserted video advertising, too, and it can also provide better consumption data, while being significantly cheaper to serve than existing examples.

Singapore’s 1UpMedia has produced a visualisation pilot for the BBC World Service, for the Witness History podcast. The documentary podcast’s audio was not changed; but a new visual layer was added.
