Are podcasts too long? Snippet·fm is a short-form podcast network, where every show is less than twenty minutes. The network includes software that removes pauses, “ums and ers” and other filler words, to respect audiences’ time. The network’s CEO, Tyler Russell McCusker, previously worked in radio for thirteen years.

Acast has signed comedian Hannah Berner’s Berning in Hell podcast. It was with Anchor; Acast has also announced new artwork for the show is on the way (partially, perhaps, because the old artwork was emblazoned with the Anchor logo).

Spotify’s Greenroom live audio app is now “Spotify Live”, and is being integrated into the main Spotify app. “Live listening in the main Spotify app will not support the interactive features”, says Techcrunch, and will only include “select programming”.
- Meanwhile, Clubhouse, another live audio app, now has dark mode.

Evergreen Podcasts has launched a true crime and paranormal podcast channel, called KillerPodcasts. They’ll also be at CrimeCon 2022 in Las Vegas NV, USA.

The 47th Annual Gracie Awards were announced. Podcast winners include Pineapple Street Studios’ Because of Anita; Lemonada Media’s Believe Her, Brooke Siffrinn and Aricia Skidmore-Williams, co-hosts for Wondery’s Even The Rich; Clarissa Ward, host for CNN’s Tug of War; Lemonada Media’s In Giro Con Fra; Spotify’s Jemele Hill is Unbothered; Meredith Goldstein, host of the Boston Globe’s Love Letters; Suzy Liu, producer of ABC News’s The Dropout; Wondery and The Athletic’s The Lead; Rococo Punch’s The Turning: The Sisters Who Left; and Cadence13's We Can Do Hard Things with Glennon Doyle.

Hub & Spoke’s Rumble Strip has been nominated for a Peabody Award. Also nominated are PRX’s S***hole Country (in Radiotopia Presents), and Mississippi Goddam: The Ballad of Billey Joe (in Reveal). The full list of Peabody nominees also includes podcasts from WNYC, WHYY, Serial Productions, BBC News, NBC News, Crooked Media and NPR - and Hulu’s affectionate-but-not-very-helpful take on podcasting, Only Murders in the Building.

- Jad Abumrad is to join Vanderbilt University in Nashville TN, USA as a Distinguished Research Professor of Cinema and Media Arts and of Communication of Science and Technology at the College of Arts and Science (we hope those business cards fold out). He’ll be leading and advising the university on a new podcast institute, launching in Q3 next year. He was founder of Radiolab.
