Comedian Hannah Berner strikes deal with Acast for ‘Berning In Hell’ podcast

Press Release · New York, NY, USA ·

This article is at least a year old

Breakout comedian Hannah Berner has partnered with Acast, the world’s leading independent podcast company, to manage the distribution, sales, and growth of her smash-hit podcast Berning In Hell. The series, which uses comedy to prompt candid conversations about mental health and wellness, features public figures peeling back their public persona and divulging their inner demons.

Under the partnership, Berning In Hell will join the Acast Creator Network, opening the podcast up to new audiences across platforms and premium partnership opportunities for advertisers. This comes after Acast launched Giggly Squad, a podcast Berner hosts alongside close friend and co-host Paige DeSorbo, growing it to reach widespread popularity and turning it into a lucrative business through ad sales and sponsorships.

“I started Berning In Hell as a way to use comedy to normalize conversations about mental health — and the response I’ve gotten from listeners all over the world has been amazing,” said Berner, creator and host of Berning In Hell. “After building the podcast on my own for three years, I’m so honored that Acast believes in it as much as I do. I can’t wait to work with the Acast team to take the podcast to new heights.”

A stand-up comic, content creator, and media personality, Berner is known for her sold-out shows around the country and her relatable material covering modern culture, women’s experiences, dating, relationships, and more. Following her own experiences with anxiety and depression, she launched Berning In Hell in November 2018 to create an open forum for fellow comedians, celebrities, entrepreneurs, and public figures to have deep, honest discussions about mental health.

Tiffany Ashitey, Creator Network Director, Americas at Acast, said: “Hannah’s podcasts resonate so strongly with audiences because she expertly uses comedy and everyday moments to shed light on our shared experiences navigating through life. Welcoming Berning In Hell to our network is especially exciting for us because it’s a marker of our team’s hard work and success over the past two years growing her other podcast, Giggly Squad. Our mission is to be the go-to partner for all creators who, like Hannah, are looking to take their podcast business to the next level.”

Berning In Hell is now available to advertisers through the Acast Marketplace. Brands and agencies will be able to reach listeners by purchasing ads, sponsorships, and other ad formats on the podcast — making use of Acast’s dynamic ad insertion technology and targeting capabilities based on context, listener demographics, location, and more. Ads may be purchased either programmatically or through brokered deals with the Acast sales team. Additionally, sponsors can work with the Acast Creative team to create bespoke brand integrations, such as branded mini-series, episodes, or Sponsored Stories.

Acast is distributing Berning In Hell widely across all podcast platforms. The company is also debuting the podcast’s revamped cover art, which marks the beginning of a new era for the series as it welcomes a range of new, high-profile guests. Upcoming episodes will feature guests including viral comedian Trevor Wallace, Disney star Christy Carlson Romano, TikTok sensation Talia Lichstein, and many more.

Berner is represented by Two West Entertainment, WME, and Persona PR.

About Hannah Berner

From selling out theaters across the country as a headlining stand-up comedian to creating some of today’s most viral, bingeable digital content, Hannah’s infectious personality, fearlessly feminist attitude, and laugh-out-loud, relatable humor have cemented her name as a female force to be reckoned with in entertainment. Hannah’s hilariously relatable stand-up experience offers unfiltered access into her own personal life, deepest insecurities, most embarrassing moments, dating trial and errors (before meeting an older retired fuckboy and getting engaged during a pandemic), and more. This year, Hannah has been hand-selected to perform at SXSW Festival (March 2022) and at Just For Laugh’s prestigious Moontower Festival (April 2022). Her stand-up shows have sold out prestigious comedy venues such as NYC’s Gotham Comedy Club, Chicago’s Den Theatre, Dynasty Typewriter at the Hayworth Theatre in Los Angeles, Cobb’s Comedy Club in San Francisco, and Laugh Boston. A true multihyphenate entertainer, Hannah’s contagious humor has also lent itself to her natural hosting capabilities, helming the smash-hit podcasts, Berning in Hell and Giggly Squad, which both consistently top the comedy and Film & TV podcast charts. In 2018, Hannah was cast for three seasons as part of a top-rated reality television show before exiting to reclaim her happiness in spreading laughter full-time. Hannah now also uses her public platform to advocate for and destigmatize mental health discussions, speaking openly and honestly about her own publicized struggles with anxiety and depression. When she is not performing on stage or writing and creating viral jokes and videos across social media, Hannah is currently planning a spring 2022 wedding in the Hamptons to fellow comedian Des Bishop.
