Audioboom has acquired the UK podcast network Adelicious. The combination of the businesses will create the UK’s largest homegrown podcast network with 40mn unique listeners, and more than 125mn monthly downloads and views. Adelicious will continue as a brand.

Apple Podcasts announced better, more granular listening reports within Apple Podcasts Connect. The reports are only available for channels that offer paid subscriptions, but now includes a unique count of listeners per channel for the first time.

On Sep 3, the BBC is to launch an international podcast called The Global Story, a breathless release tells us. Regular readers will remember us covering, um, the launch of a new BBC international podcast called The Global Story in November 2023. That version appears to have quietly fizzled out in March of this year. The new version will be more US-focused, and includes former staff from NPR and the New York Times.

Acquired did a live episode this week in Radio City Music Hall in New York. Steven Goldstein writes that every ticket ($100-299 each) was sold in the 5,960 capacity venue.

Bob Kane is to leave Libsyn at the end of this month. The current Canadian Country Manager for Libsyn Ads, Bob was a co-founder of The Podcast Exchange, and has also worked with CBC and Corus Entertainment. A friendly face at any Canadian media conference, he tells Podnews “I’m not done,” and is open to opportunities.
