RØDE launch new products at the NAB Show

Audio equipment manufacturer RØDE has launched a number of new products at the NAB Show in Las Vegas. The announcement of seven new products and product updates includes:
- The Streamer X, a unit with an XLR audio interface and video capture in one (above, right)
- The RØDECaster Duo, a smaller version of the RØDECaster Pro. (above, left)
- The PodMic USB, an XLR and USB-enabled dynamic microphone.
- A software updates for the popular RØDECaster Pro II will allow native connections to RØDE’s wireless microphones.

At the NAB Show, a number of podcast companies including Blubrry, Podbean and Libsyn are exhibiting among the plethora of equipment manufacturers. The event has a podcast conference track: among the speakers: our Editor, James Cridland, interviews Valerie Geller in Podcasting in 2023: Where Are We & Where Are We Going? (11.30am, N255/N257)

Chartable is to remove its integration with Apple Podcasts Connect from Jun 1 according to an email to customers. Apple-specific consumption data for your podcasts will no longer be available within Chartable, though Apple’s trending charts will continue. Apple Podcasts does not offer a method to programmatically export podcast consumption data to other services.
- Spotify has also announced it’s closing Heardle, a popular music guessing game it purchased last year for an undisclosed amount.

Podscribe is now IAB certified. The company says it is the only measurement provider certifed by the IAB Tech Lab that does not currently sell media.

ENCO, a radio automation company, has launched two new AI-powered services. AITrack automates a radio announcer; ENCO-GPT makes radio ads automatically.

We reported on Edison Research’s “batting average” data a few weeks ago, suggesting that true crime is “the genre that yields the highest chance for a hit”. Curious, we compared the top 200 list with all 4.05mn podcasts in the Podcast Index, rather than Edison’s own comparison with 20,000 shows, just to see if it made a difference. It didn’t: the top 5 genres remained unchanged.
