Podpage acquires The School of Podcasting

  • Podcast website company Podpage has acquired Dave Jackson’s School of Podcasting. Podpage will offer a free tier of education courses, as well as access to 1:1 coaching with Dave and the team. The curriculum will be redesigned, and the School of Podcasting will be expanding to include expert guest instructors. The all-cash deal with ongoing revenue share will allow the Hall of Famer to focus on building the School of Podcasting further. There’s a Town Hall tomorrow for questions.

  • In Australia, a new growth platform for independent podcasters, podtential, has launched. The company is built around a proprietary diagnostic tool which is used to deliver personalised coaching to help creators reach their goals.

  • YouTube published a blog post recently, which we linked to - only for them to quietly remove the post. Here it was; of note, it contains an interesting stat that we don’t recall seeing before: globally, YouTube users are now viewing over 100 million hours of podcasts every day.

  • More on yesterday’s news about Apple Podcasts HLS video support: Podnews can confirm today that Buzzsprout will be supporting it.

    • When will video on Apple Podcasts be available? It needs your phone to run iOS 26.4; just like the new Apple AirPods Max 2 headphones, launched yesterday. Those are available for purchase from March 26, but will arrive “early next month” - to coincide, you’d think, with the new 26.4 release.
  • You’re a TV advertiser, and you want to increase the number of people who know about your brand by 41% -and you want to do that for free? Easy - just move some of that money to podcasts. In a case study shared by Edison Podcast Metrics and Nielsen Media Impact, moving just 5% of that TV money into podcasting reaches an additional 26 million people, at no additional cost.

  • Creator-focused podcast studio Daylight Media has announced a strategic partnership with Barometer, a brand suitability and contextual targeting service. The integration will allow Daylight’s sales team to offer more precise targeting and reporting.
