Shite Talk: An Irish History Podcast Returns With St. Patrick’s Day Special and New Season
A new season of Shite Talk is launching on HeadStuff Podcasts next week. Irish comedy-history podcast Shite Talk: An Irish History Podcast returns with a brand-new season on 17 March, kicking things off with a special episode dedicated to Ireland’s most famous Welshman, St. Patrick.
Hosted by comedians Kevin Larney and Jason Brennan, the podcast has built a loyal audience with its entertaining deep dives into the strange, surprising and occasionally ridiculous corners of Irish history and culture. Past episodes have covered everything from Bertie Ahern to Tayto crisps.
To mark St. Patrick’s Day, the new season opens with a comedic exploration of the man himself — Ireland’s patron saint, the so-called “king of snakes”.
“Hello, we’re back with another season of Shite Talk: An Irish History Podcast!” say Larney and Brennan. “To kick things off this Tuesday, we’re doing a deep dive into Ireland’s most beloved Welshman, the king of snakes himself, St. Patrick.”
The upcoming season will cover a wide range of topics across Irish history and culture. Over the next few weeks, the hosts will jump on the World Cup bandwagon with football-themed stories, including the Irishman who helped save FC Barcelona, as well as a tribute to football legend George Best, who would have turned 80 this April.
The podcast will also explore lesser-known aspects of the Easter Rising, which marks its 110th anniversary this year, and revisit the first census conducted in the Irish Free State in 1926.
The new season will also feature a lineup of special guests, including:
- Killian Sundermann discussing Studs
- Roger O’Sullivan on the Rainbow Coalition Government of Ireland
- Aideen McQueen on Circle of Friends
- Davy Holden on all things Kilkenny
Blending sharp comedy with genuine historical curiosity, Shite Talk continues to uncover the stories, characters and cultural moments that shaped Ireland — often in the most unexpected ways.
