
Global acquires The Fellas Studios

In the UK, Global has acquired The Fellas Studios, a creator network that includes the Edison top 10 UK show Saving Grace. No terms were given: the new brand “Global Studios” will be the home to Global’s expanded podcast slate. (The Fellas Studios had been with Acast).

In Kyiv, Ukraine, the winners of Ukraine’s podcast prize ceremony, the fifth Slushno Awards, were announced. The Grand Prix prize went to Теракт біля Палацу спорту (“The Terrorist Attack Near the Sports Palace”), a true crime podcast from Suspilne Kharkiv about the 2015 Kharkiv bombing, when Russian terrorists killed four Ukranians.

Podcast content workflow platform Northflow has announced three advisors: Ana Xavier from The Podcast Space, podcaster and entrepreneur Daniel J Lewis, and Podnews editor James Cridland. (Disclosures)

Podcastpage has a new name, and a wider remit. A new brand - Beamly - marks the platform’s expansion beyond podcast websites, the company says, to a full suite of publishing and monetisation tools.

Last month in the UK, the Press Gazette announced the winners of the Future of Media Awards. Winning Podcast of the Year were The Times and The Sunday Times with Cocaine Inc; and Criminally Queer: The Bolton 7 from Reduced Listening and the BBC. (Criminally Queer also won last week in the British Podcast Awards).
