Earwolf studio table saved
-
Earlier this month, we mentioned that the Earwolf signature studio table had been “taken away” after the closure of its New York studio. Good news: SiriusXM’s Director of Podcast AdOps Kelsey Butterworth - who started working at Earwolf in 2016 - “staged a daring 11th hour rescue” with Jared O’Connell. The tables are now safe and sound at an undisclosed location north of the city, awaiting their next adventure.

A developer called Matthew Brunelle has worked out how to change the code for Pocket Casts to remove the advertising. The apps were made open-source by current owners Automattic, which makes it relatively easy (and legal) to do so. However, the app will still use proprietary Pocket Casts servers; and for now, you’ll need to be an Android developer to rebuild the app in this way. In any case, this seems to punish the company for making the apps open-source, which has accelerated a number of new features. Better to use AntennaPod or Apple Podcasts… or, better still, support the developers by paying for it, we think.

Apple Podcasts has seemingly updated a page called “Show availability features” to its website. “You can select where you want your show to be available on Apple Podcasts. By default, all countries or regions are selected, but you can deselect territories where you don’t want your show to appear.” Changes take 24 hours to take effect; this show shouldn’t be available in Ireland if we’ve done it right. (Podnews uses a data centre in Ireland).
