Deezer launches podcasts for Israel

• Deezer has rolled out its podcasts tab for users in Israel. The service offers both local and international podcasts, and contains recommendations and top podcasts.

• The RØDECaster Pro is to get a new firmware update later this week. v2.1 is a “major update”, the company says, offering more precise control.

• A new thing? Interactive AI podcasts allow you to ask questions and shape the show you’re listening to. There’s a demo to try.

• Edison Research has revealed that podcast consumption in Australia is being driven by those aged 35-54. “This is likely due to higher listening of AM/FM/DAB+ radio among this age group, coupled with a perception that podcasts are simply previously-aired radio programs available on-demand”.

• Another day, another ranker: Podtrac covers the top US podcasts by category. News was biggest in May, but down from April. The service only measures participating publishers.

Oxford Road’s Media’s New Deal interviews Adam Carolla, who’s been podcasting since 2009. “I constantly carry around a note pad and I just scribble. I constantly write notes on it, and it’s content, it’s jokes, it’s ideas, and philosophically that’s all I can do. My plan is: let’s do the best version of this thing that we’re setting out to do.”
