  • Google and PRX have launched a new round of the Google Podcasts Creator Program, including equipment, training, and a fund of up to $12,000. You’ve the month of July to apply.

  • After opening memberships on Monday, the first members of The Podcast Academy are being told they’ve been accepted (including our Editor). Rob Greenlee says that the organisation is working on a faster, more streamlined registration process, after some people report being deluged with requests to write letters of recommendation.

  • On Monday, Podnews asked “do we have a spam problem?”, noting that marketers are scraping podcast RSS feeds. Podmail·fm is a new service developed in response - fast work from developer Cohan Robinson. We’re aware of at least one other service being actively developed.

  • Podcast ad company True Native Media are in “hyper-growth”, they say, and have hired Laurel Earhart (Entravision Digital) to be VP of National Sponsorships, Kegan Munguia (PodcastOne) as National Account Manager, and promoted Gretchen George as VP of Podcast Operations and Campaign Management.

  • We’d like to thank our biggest fans at 54.84.210.245 for repeatedly downloading all 300 episodes of the Podnews podcast over 5,000 times in the last seven hours, and in total, 364,969 times in the last 90 days, downloading 625GB of data and costing us $53. We’ve got a blocklist, and we’re not afraid to use it. (So has our stats system, disappointingly, which is ignoring these downloads).
