The US’s ART19 has expanded into Korea - the country with the highest podcast listenership in the world. ART19 has acquired BirchSound, a Korean podcast ad-seller, and has simultaneously struck exclusive deals with broadcasters SBS, KBS, CBS, and Chosun; and the country’s most popular newspaper, Chosun Ilbo. 53% of Koreans listen to a podcast every month, according to the Reuters Institute, compared to 35% of the US doing so.

Commercial Radio Australia has published videos of their interview with Teacher’s Pet journalist Hedley Thomas; and two conference sessions Content vs Commercial: which comes first in podcasting and Podcast Essentials for 2019 and beyond. These were recorded at their RadioAlive conference earlier this year in Brisbane QLD, Australia.

Broadcast advertising attribution company AnalyticOwl has unveiled PodcastOwl, which measures the impact of advertising in podcasts and offers tools to optimize such campaigns. It “focuses on aggregate data before and after the launch of a podcast, providing a large sample size of data in which to find attribution insights.”

A new Australian Podcast Ranker has been released today. Podcast One’s Hamish and Andy return to #1; the highest new entry is The Lighthouse, a true-crime podcast from News Corp. The Parent Brand (publishers of Kinderling Kids Radio), Schwartz Media (The Saturday Paper) and TOFOP have been announced as new publishers from January 2020. The ranker does not yet include the ABC, the country’s biggest podcaster; and some publishers have told Podnews they have declined to take part.

UK podcast company Stabl has acquired Swipe Left Swipe Left, a prominent UK podcast. In the US, the producers of two “ultra-popular” golf shows No Laying Up have signed with Podcast Ad Reps (PAR).
