Podfather speaks at Podcast Movement

• Adam Curry, the “podfather”, spoke with Dave Jones at Podcast Movement 2022, explaining the history of open podcasting, the Podcast Index and the features available with the new podcast namespace.

• At Podcast Movement, Evergreen Podcasts and Big Whig Media have launched Big Whig Podcasts, a distribution channel to enable a seamless process for DC-based corporate and advocacy organizations to produce and distribute podcasts. The partnership was first announced in June.

• Australian TikTok star Maddy MacRae has launched a podcast with DM Podcasts. Sometimes Funny, Always Awkward will discuss the real serious topics of growing up with an air of fun.

• Got SiriusXM in your car? You might now have access to Stitcher Premium too: it now comes bundled into the SiriusXM Platinum Plan.

• Amazon has launched a number of new programming strands for AMP, the company’s US-based live radio service. Fast and Loose is a new Formula 1 show, which will also be released as a podcast with Wondery.

• Game studio founder Hideo Kojima is to produce a global podcast for Spotify in both Japanese and English. Brain Structure will launch next month. Meanwhile, NPR and Futuro Studios are to partner on an upcoming dual-language podcast in Spanish and English about the FIFA World Cup.

Of US adults, the population aged between 18-44 is 41% of the total, said Edison Research in a blog post today; but it makes up 58% of all podcast listeners. This makes it an efficient advertising medium, the company says.

Moves and hires

• Bo Carper has joined Sounder as Senior Vice President of Enterprise Sales & Client Success. He was with Spotify.

• Javier Piñol is now Global Head of Markets, Talk Studios at Spotify. Javier will be responsible for setting strategy for Spotify’s international talk content business.
