Despite his strong faith and successful career in the faith space, he’s the Christian who became an alcoholic, not the other way around. Jon dives deep into discovering the root of why he was drinking and how it affected his life and marriage, culminating in him sharing the steps he had to take to embrace sobriety. However, this isn’t the typical “alcoholic” story that involves a radical conversion. It’s a story of sanctification—how long obedience in the same direction led to a realization that his habits had become both sinful and destructive. In some ways, Jon fit the traditional definition of an alcoholic, but in many ways he did not, and that led to an even deeper abuse of his relationship with alcohol.
