The Genesis: Conversations About Jewish Identity and Culture
The Jewish world is changing. We are living during great Jewish cultural renaissance. This is a time when people are discovering, rediscovering and inventing new ways live as Jews, creative modes of Jewish expression, and innovative uses of Judaism and Jewish tradition wisdom to redefine Jewish life for the 21st century.
At The Genesis, New Conversations About Jewish Identity, Rabbi Josh Rose has conversations with Jewish activists, Jewish thinkers, Jewish creatives, Jewish artists, rabbis and people just like you to explore and lift up these new approaches.
If you haven’t ever explored Judaism, or if you grew up Jewish but it didn’t take, if you’ve never studied with a rabbi, or if you have, but you’re just looking for a new take on what Jewish and Judaism might mean, you’re in the right place. And if you are a 21st century culture bearer and you’re just interested in ideas about Judaism and Jewish life, you’re also in the right place - we’re glad you’re here.
You can expect conversation about, yes, the Torah, but also about poetry, politics, about music, community, history, the future and… well, you get it.
Rabbi Josh Rose is founder and director of Co/Lab: Reimagine Jewish, a center of Jewish arts, culture and ideas in Portland, Oregon. We engage people in Jewish life and culture in fun and exciting ways through Learning/Lab - where you can find top-notch Jewish learning along with food, drinks and other people - and Art/Lab, a program for contemporary artists who are Jewish.
