Å eie sitt eget hus er selve boligdrømmen for mange – og for mange også selve boligrealiteten. Det skyldes den storstilte boligbyggingen i tiårene etter andre verdenskrig. I denne serien skal vi tilbake til den tiden hvor en ung familie kunne få seg en rimelig tomt og et husbanklån – og bygge seg et hjem. De aller fleste husene som ble bygd i denne perioden var ferdighus. Moderne trehus som ble produsert på fabrikk, markedsført gjennom fargerike katalogen og levert som byggesett på tomta. I Hjemlengsel skal vi se nærmere på disse helt vanlige husene. Hvorfor ser de ut som de gjør, og hvorfor ble de så populære?
