Roadtrip naar Auschwitz

Roadtrip naar Auschwitz is niet wéér een podcast over 'den oorlog’. Nee, het is een epische reis die in 1941 begint met een groot familiedrama in Polen. Tachtig jaar na dat drama stapt journalist Evelien Rutten in de wagen met haar tienerdochter Hera en de Poolse zussen van haar overleden moeder: tante Misha en tante Wanda. Samen trekken ze naar Duitsland, Polen en Oostenrijk, op zoek naar sporen van de wereldgeschiedenis die tot vandaag nog terug te vinden zijn in hun eigen DNA. Wie waren babcia en dzadzia, de Poolse grootouders van Evelien? En hoe is het mogelijk dat ze toch een relatief normaal leven konden leiden, nadat ze allebei in een concentratiekamp gezeten hebben?

Het verhaal verschijnt ook als boek ‘Roadtrip naar Auschwitz – Zijn we niks vergeten?’ bij Pelckmans. De reeks kwam tot stand met de steun van het Vlaams Audiovisueel Fonds (VAF) van de Vlaamse overheid.
