This is the Messy Middle, and it’s where I do my best work. I’m Tim Campsall, The Messy Middle Guy, and I help established owner-led businesses get unstuck, scale, and build a more valuable business that can run without them.
The Messy Middle is the stage of growth where the business has outgrown the way it’s being run. The owner becomes the bottleneck because too many decisions still require their approval, systems and processes haven’t kept pace with growth, and accountability still depends too heavily on the owner’s presence.
Most owners don’t describe themselves as stuck. They describe themselves as busy because they’re solving problems, answering questions, approving work, putting out fires, and working harder than ever. They struggle to get out of the day-to-day because the business still depends on them to keep things moving. That’s what being stuck in the Messy Middle often looks like.
Self Made Is a Myth explores what it really takes to grow a business beyond the owner. We talk about systems, leadership, delegation, decision-making, relationships, accountability, and the mindset shifts required to get unstuck and scale.
