Julio Ruiz es un reconocido periodista musical que ha acercado novedades de la música popular a los oyentes desde su mítico programa “Disco Grande” . Muchas bandas españolas ampliamente conocidas de la década de 1980 o 1990, como Nacha Pop, Los Planetas, Tos (Los Secretos), Radio Futura o Loquillo, sonaron en su programa cuando daban sus primeros pasos en la industria musical. Si en algún momento de su larga historia (sobre todo, de década y media para acá) se le colocó el cartel de programa indie, haremos lo posible y nos esforzaremos por responder a esa etiqueta. Más indies, imposible; Más independientes, difícil.
