《讲给孩子的中国文学经典》是一部面向青少年读者的文学知识普及读本，以讲故事的口吻，介绍了中国文学发展的历程，上起神话时代，下至20世纪上半叶，脉络清晰，轻重得宜。涉及的文学名家有四五百位，经典作品近千篇（部）。诗赋散文、小说戏曲，无所不包，并穿插大量掌故趣闻。中华五千年文化精粹尽在其中，生动活泼的教益启示尽含其里，读来轻松有味，引人入胜。

为了让学生们读得懂、感兴趣，还是下了不少功夫的；每一段朗读、录音，反复听；还要找个中学生来听。若效果不佳，便重新修改，直到满意为止。
