Behind Beautiful Things is the new name for the podcast Sad Times.

Bob Dylan once said, “Behind every beautiful thing, there’s been some kind of pain”.

Behind Beautiful Things is a Mental Health Podcast focused on storytelling. Each episode of Behind Beautiful Things features a guest, and we talk with them about how sadness manifests within them; what type of behavior that may surface as a result from being sad, upset, or troubled.

We believe as a society we don’t always share the feelings, thoughts and actions that accompany these moments. We hope the stories told in these episodes will help the listener feel less alone and perhaps a bit more empathetic in day to day life.

Hosted on ART19 and measured by Magellan AI and Nielsen
This podcast may use tracking and attribution and dynamic content insertion

Stats: Statistics are produced by ART19 and Magellan AI to help Behind Beautiful Things to understand how many downloads it is getting, or how many people are listening. Your device’s IP address and user agent is used to help calculate this figure. ART19 is IAB v2 certified. Here is more detail about podcast statistics.

Tracking and attribution: ART19 and Nielsen or their partners may connect the fact you listened to this podcast to an action elsewhere on the internet. For example - they may spot a device that downloaded an episode of Behind Beautiful Things later visited the website of an advertiser; or they may track that a device that listened to Behind Beautiful Things also listened to a different show. This form of attribution is used to measure advertising effectiveness.

Dynamic content insertion: ART19 may use limited data that they know about you - the device you’re using, the approximate location you’re in, or other data that can be derived from this, like the current weather forecast for your area - to change parts of the audio. Behind Beautiful Things may do this for advertising or for other forms of content, like news stories.

Behind Beautiful Things is able to use the above tools since its podcast host or measurement company offers this service. It doesn’t mean that this individual podcast uses them, or has access to this functionality. We use open data.
