Dog Parkology

The dog population has significantly increased in the decades since the first dog park in 1979. Yet even with giant leaps made in the understanding of dogs in the last 10-15 years, driven by an explosion of academic research around dogs’ behaviors and their relationships with humans, dog parks haven’t innovated much since their establishment.

This narrative series will explore the current dog park paradigm and suggest improvements. This will be accomplished by discovering how dog parks strengthen our relationships with our dogs, neighbors, and the natural world around us.
