The Gackle Report
The Gackle Report is a Bay Area hockey website produced by two Canadians devoted to covering the San Jose Sharks.
Throughout the 2014-15 NHL season, Paul and Patrick Gackle, who grew up in Winnipeg, Canada, will produce a daily hockey podcast to fill the Bay Area’s puck talk void while also providing daily news articles about Sharks hockey.
The Gackle Report is the place to go for insider coverage of the Sharks and fresh analysis about the latest happenings around the NHL.
Paul Gackle grew up in the newsroom and he’s determined to carry sports journalism into the future.
Gackle started covering sports for his father’s newspaper, the McLean County Independent, in North Dakota as a teenager and he recently reported on the Giants, 49ers and A’s as a columnist for the San Francisco Examiner.
In addition to the Examiner, Gackle has published work with the East Bay Express, the Winnipeg Free Press and PBS Frontline.
Growing up in Canada, Gackle fell in love with hockey at a young age and he crossed into the U.S. in his twenties while the river was frozen. Gackle blogged about the now-defunct San Francisco Bulls in his first iteration of The Gackle Report and he was the team’s color analyst for radio on KNBR.com and TV with Comcast Hometown Network.
Gackle has also appeared as guest on KNBR 680 and 1050, 95.7 The Game, Yahoo Sports Radio and the Doug Gottlieb Show.
