Shock World Service
A music podcast from Jon Averill
The Shock World Service is a 100 episode collection of painstakingly assembled audio collages of soundtracks, electronic oddness & spoken word.
Started in 2007 by Jon Averill as a way to further explore & expand musical horizons beyond the mainly dance floor-centric music he was playing at the time & as an antidote the cheapening of the mixtape format by the glut of .mp3 mixes online with no track listing, no artwork & no real attention to detail applied to them.
“A provider of collage-heavy, loosely hauntological soundscapes” – Fact Mag
“One of the most enlightening and entertaining track lists we’ve ever been sent, nay of all time” – It’s Nice That
