A caballo entre las comarcas pacenses de La Siberia y La Serena, pertenece a Vegas Altas y al Partido judicial de Villanueva de la Serena.

Un detalle característico de esta población es su embalse, cuyo canal hace posible una amplia zona de regadíos (Plan Badajoz).
