Tervetuloa mukaan maailmanympäripurjehdukselle Juhan ja Mikon sohvalle!
Tässä podcastissa seurataan Ocean Globe Race -maailmanymäripurjehduskisaa alusta loppuun saakka. Kisa alkoi 10.9 Englannin Southamptonista ja se vie 14 venekuntaa maailman ympäri neljän etapin kautta. Ocaen Globe Race eli OGR on legendaarisen Whitbread Around The World -maailmanympäripurjehduskilpailun 50-vuotisjuhlakilpailu. Ideana on purjehtia retro-hengessä Whitbreadin kulta-ajan aikasilla veneillä ja sen aikaisella teknologialla maailman ympäri. Navidointi hoidetaan siis sekstantilla ja säätiedotukset otetaan vastaan sääfaksilla. Hurja seikkailu luvassa!
Erityisen kiinnostavan OGR:stä tekee se, että mukana on kaksi suomalaista venettä: Tapio Lehtisen kipparoima Galiana With Secure ja Jussi Paavosepän luotsaama Spirit of Helsinki.
Sohvapurjehtijat lähettävät päivityksiä muutaman viikon välein kisan edistymisestä, taustatarinoita kisaan osallistuvista veneistä ja tiimeistä, analyyseja veneiden reitti- ja purjevalinnoista sekä haastatteluja kilpailijoilta. Luvassa hurjia tarinoita purjehduksen kultakaudelta! Lähde mukaan seikkailuun, jossa moderni teknologia jätetään kotiin ja luotetaan vanhan ajan navigointivälineisiin.
Takaisin Southamptoniin veneet ehtivät vasta vuoden 2024 huhti- tai toukokuussa, joten tässä on hyvin aikaa hypätä meidän mukaan sohvalle ja purjehtimaan maailman ympäri.
