老狗是一名有多年刑事經驗的法律人，Ruth則是有一點點法律知識的家內工作者。老狗因過去長期擔任社區法治教育講師的經驗，瞭解一般民眾對於「法律」這樣東西，因為與生活息息相關而倍感好奇，但又覺得他艱澀困難而畏於接近，所以就試著把老狗和Ruth平日在餐桌上的對談內容做成節目，讓聽眾能輕易的瞭解生活中可能碰到的法律問題及常識。
