Um avião da TAP com destino a Faro é desviado para Madrid. O sequestrador está armado e exige um resgate de 10 milhões de dólares para libertar os reféns: 82 passageiros e 7 tripulantes. O governo do primeiro-ministro Francisco Sá Carneiro reúne de emergência.
As forças especiais espanholas cercam o avião e estão prontas para entrar. Naquela noite de 6 de maio de 1980, no momento em que o avião desvia a rota apenas os pilotos sabem o que têm pela frente: de arma na mão está um miúdo de 16 anos.
