Esta es la historia de Cristina Martínez, una mujer que escapó de un secuestro, renunció a sus hijos dos veces, hizo rituales de santería, cruzó otras dos veces el desierto, liberó a un niño de los coyotes, vendió quesadillas en la calle, lavó platos por 7 dólares la hora, se casó sin saber inglés con un gringo 13 años más joven que no sabía español, fundó un movimiento nacional por los derechos de los inmigrantes y, a pesar de ser indocumentada, consiguió que su restaurante de barbacoa fuera uno de los 10 mejores de EEUU.
