Silenzio

Quando si pensa ad un disastro la mente velocemente ricostruisce un boato o un forte scoppio, accompagnato dalla distruzione di cose e dall’annientamento di persone o animali. Perché i disastri quando avvengono si vedono e si sentono.

Esistono però anche disastri che accadono nel silenzio, i più terribili forse, perché nel silenzio è impossibile individuarli, nel silenzio le conseguenze sono subdole e nel silenzio i danni sono peggiori.

Quello di Seveso è stato un disastro incredibilmente silenzioso, avvenuto nella più quieta provincia italiana, civile ed educata, così del suo disastro, la stessa Seveso, ha compreso poco alla volta, troppo lentamente.

Ricostruiamo i fatti, da quella mattina dell’undici luglio del 1976, per comprendere come un disastro ambientale e umano abbia determinato l’iter legislativo dell’aborto, l’adozione di una politica europea di prevenzione del rischio industriale e la definizione di una metodica per la raccolta dei dati a scopo epidemiologico.
